Errors doom Beavers against Winona State

The Beavers committed 9 errors between two games

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Minot State University baseball team dropped a twinbill against Winona State University to open up Northern Sun play Thursday afternoon at Karras Park.

The Beavers fell in game one, 8-2 and 8-6, in game two.

“We just didn't come out ready to play today,” said MISU head coach Brock Weppler. “We played scared, we played hesitant and we didn't grind.”

In the game one loss, Minot State committed six errors in the field and managed to get five hits. A.J. Begay (Jr. 3B, Salt Lake City, Utah) had a 2 RBI double in the seventh to lead the MISU offense.

In game two, the Beavers offense came alive, drilling nine hits and getting six runs off one of Winona State's best pitchers. Mike Turcotte (Sr., CF, Victoria, British Columbia) and Mitch Olson (Sr., 1B, Deloraine, Manitoba) led the Beavers with two hits two runs apiece.

“In game two we some adjustments at the plate. We came out and knocked around the best pitcher, their ace, and put up some runs that nobody had done to him all year.

“Some days we play well and some days we don't, and when we don't we are an average team at best. We need to play more consistent.”

Minot State (8-8 overall 0-2 NSIC)_will now continue their NSIC schedule as they travel to No. 16 St. Cloud State University on April 6 and 7.
