Box Score 2 Yankton, S.D.- After two changes in location, Minot State University baseball faced conference foe University of Sioux Falls in a doubleheader Saturday evening.
The games, originally scheduled in Minot and then Crofton, Neb., ended in two losses for the Beavers, 7-0 and 10-7.
In game one, The Cougars (13-19 overall 8-10 NSIC) used a stellar pitching performance from Noah Coleman to shutdown the Beavers offense. Against Coleman, MISU (10-14 overall 2-8 NSIC) could muster just five hits (one extra base hit) in the seven inning game.
Catcher
Connor Moughtin (Jr., Victoria, British Columbia) was the only Beaver to get two hits while
Cole Stober (Sr., P, Hays, Alberta) was tagged with his second loss of the year. He gave up seven hits and three earned runs over three and a third innings pitched.
In the latter game, Minot State fell behind early, giving up seven runs over the first three innings, but the Beavers' bats woke up, smashing fourteen hits in the loss.
Mike Turcotte (Sr., CF, Victoria, British Columbia) had three hits with two RBI while Moughtin drilled three more hits, raising his season batting average to .395.
Shortstop
Alex Fornshell (Jr., Minot, N.D.) also had a great game at the plate with a season-high three hits and two runs scored.
Matthew Davis (So., P, Red Deer, Alberta) picked up the loss for Minot State, as he gave up seven hits and six earned runs over five innings.
The Cougars and Beavers will play two more games Sunday morning, first pitch will be thrown at 10 a.m.
