Minot State Baseball hosts St. Cloud State for Senior Weekend at Corbett Field

MINOT, N.D. – The Minot State baseball team returns to action in a three-game series against St. Cloud State University to close out the regular season. The Beavers kick off Senior Weekend with back-to-back games Friday, May 6, beginning at 1:30 p.m. at Corbett Field. Minot State will close out the regular season Sat, May 7 at noon. 

Final Weekend Matchup 
The Beavers (26-18, 20-9) round out NSIC play against the Huskies of St. Cloud State. Minot State enters the series on a three-game winning streak. The Beavers swept Bemidji State in a doubleheader Tuesday. Minot State has scored 20 runs in the last three games and looks to keep the hot streak rolling. 

Scouting the Huskies 
St. Cloud State enters the series with a record of 33-11 (25-5), after facing the University of Mary earlier in the week. The Huskies entered the series against UMary on a 17 game winning streak. Redshirt freshman LHP, Luke Tupy, leads St. Cloud State after being named NSIC Pitcher of the Week two weeks in a row. Offensively, Sam Riola leads the team, batting .417 in the 2022 season. Riola has 16 home runs and 49 RBIs this season.

Prominent Pitching 
Senior LHP, RJ Martinez (5-0), leads the Beavers with 78 strikeouts this season. Martinez is coming off an incredible performance in which he tied a record he previously set after throwing 13 strikeouts in a single game. Martinez has an ERA of 1.91 and has only given up 1 home run in the 2022 season. Dominick Parkhurst (4-0) has helped out for Minot State as well, with a 2.14 ERA, while striking out 41 batters this season. 
 
Bashing Beavers 
The offense this season has been led by Senior, Declan Buckle, who has a .381 batting average and 36 RBIs. Outfielder, Drew Behling leads the Beavers in home runs with 11 this season. Junior, Kaiden Cardoso, leads Minot State with 43 RBIs and is tied with Buckle for the most hits (53) this season. Entering the final regular season series, the Beavers are currently in fourth place in the NSIC, sitting ahead of Sioux Falls, whose conference record is 17-18.
